Wine List

At the Orchid, we house a wide selection of wines from countries all over the world including, France, Australia, Chile, New Zealand, Argentina and Cyprus. All wines have been allocated with a style preference defined by the Wine Development Board to help you choose a wine to accompany your meal. Several wines are detailed below for your information.

Moulin Graudet France (4) £12.50

Moet & Chandon Brut Imperial (1) £59.50 1993 (A) fine mousse and full fresh bread nose is the hallmark of this excellent wine. France

Brouilly, 1999 (B) £22.50 Chateau des Tours (Double Gold Medal Winner, Macon) A full, fruity, ‘Burgundy-Style’ Beaujolais with a bouquet of raspberries and great complexity. France

Fetzer Pinot Noir ( C) £19.50 Oak aged for 10 months to produce a wonderful spicy and classy red wine. California

Sauternes, Chateau Le Dragon (8) £26.25 1996 A luscious dessert wine showing classic botryis character. France

Wine Taste Guide White Wines are graded on a scale of sweetness using numbers 1-9, 1 being the Bone Dry through to 9 indicating Very Sweet Dessert Wine.

Red Wines are graded on a simple five point scale. The letters A-E are used in order to differentiate from the White Wines. Starting at A, the wines are easy, undermanding and quaffable. At the other end of the scale, the wines are fuller bodied.
